Diphtherinum, a powerful homoeopathic nosode prepared from the potentized diphtheric membrane or as a dilution of it. Diphtherinum is especially valuable in malignant, inflammation, and rapidly progressing infections involving the respiratory tract, particularly diphtheria and its complications. Suited for scrofulous and catarrhal constitutions, it plays a pivotal role in both the acute stage of diphtheria and in post-diphtheritic sequelae such as paralysis and myelitis. The medicine targets the mucous membranes, glands, and nervous system with deep, constitutional action. Common Name English: Diphtheritic Virus (Potentized Nosode) SBL’s Diphtherinum can be helpful in the following conditions: Diphtheria & Throat Infections Diphtherinum is indicated in malignant diphtheria and laryngeal diphtheria with thick, dark membranes. Breath and throat discharges are extremely foul and offensive. Glands are swollen, tongue is red and enlarged, and overall condition appears toxic. Suitable for cases where diphtheria presents with rapid onset and systemic toxicity. Swallowing & Nasal Symptoms Patient may swallow without pain, yet liquids are regurgitated or expelled through the nose. Useful in conditions where there is loss of coordination in swallowing due to diphtheritic paralysis. Epistaxis (nosebleeds) may accompany the infection. Post-Diphtheritic Paralysis Helpful in cases of neurological weakness or paralysis following diphtheria. Indicated in diphtheritic myelitis and neuromuscular debility.
