Acidum hydrocyanicum, also known as Prussic Acid, is a highly toxic substance derived from the chemical compound HCN (Hydrogen Cyanide). It is primarily recognized for its powerful effects on the nervous system, inducing convulsions, paralysis, and a wide range of severe symptoms. Hydrocyanic acid is notably used in homoeopathic medicine for its therapeutic properties in conditions involving intense spasms, respiratory distress, and circulatory collapse. Common Name: Hydrocyanic Acid SBL’s Acidum hydrocyanicum can be helpful in the following conditions: • Unconsciousness & Delirium Unconsciousness with extreme states of wild delirium, often fearful of imaginary troubles, such as horses, wagons, and collapsing buildings. Sudden spasmodic convulsions, often leading to paralysis. This includes hysterical and epileptic seizures, as well as cataleptic states. • Headache & Facial Spasm Intense, stupefying headaches that feel like the brain is on fire, often accompanied by a flushed face and dilated pupils. Rigid clenching of the jaws, frothing at the mouth, and pale, bluish lips. • Cough and Respiratory Collapse A dry, spasmodic, suffocating cough, often accompanied by noisy and agitated breathing.
